What you need

  • A legal PC copy of GTA V from Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Launcher.
  • FiveM from the official fivem.net website and a Cfx.re account (you create it on first launch).
  • Discord — most roleplay servers handle their allowlist, support and rules there.
  • A microphone — roleplay on FiveM is played by voice.

Step-by-step guide

From installation to your first day in the city

  1. 1

    Launch GTA V normally once

Before installing FiveM, start the game through your launcher and let it finish updating. Then close it.

  2. 2

    Install FiveM

Download FiveM.exe from fivem.net and run it — it installs into its own folder and finds GTA V. If it can't, point it to your game folder manually.

    • On first launch FiveM downloads several hundred megabytes; let it finish.
  3. 3

Sign in with a Cfx.re account

Sign in to FiveM or create a Cfx.re account. Many servers won't let you in without one.

  4. 4

    Find a server and connect

Click Connect next to a server on this page — the official cfx.re page opens with a button into the game. Or press F8 in FiveM and type connect cfx.re/join/code (copy the link with the Copy link button).

  5. 5

    Allowlist and Discord

WL-ON servers only let you in after approval. Join their Discord, read the rules and fill in an application — often followed by a short interview. WL-OFF servers are open right away.

    • Keep Discord and Steam running while you play — some servers check them when you connect.
  6. 6

    Set up your microphone

Choose your microphone in the game settings and try push-to-talk. On roleplay servers there's little typing; everything is done by voice.

Staying safe

  • Only download FiveM from fivem.net. “Mod menus”, “spoofers” and “bypasses” are the most common source of malware and get you permanently banned on servers.
  • Never lend your Cfx.re, Steam or Discord account or give out your passwords — not even to people pretending to be admins.
  • Pay for priority queue or in-game items only through the server's official store, not through private messages.

Frequently asked questions

What is FiveM?

A standalone multiplayer for GTA V with its own servers, mods and rules. It's developed by the Cfx.re team, which has belonged to Rockstar Games since 2023. FiveM is mostly about roleplay.

Which English-language FiveM servers do you list?

The 100 busiest servers set to English plus the 20 busiest from every English-speaking country, taken from the official list of more than 35,000 servers and refreshed every hour. Empty servers are left out — the worldwide list is simply too big.

How do you know which country a server is from?

From the language the server set for itself (en-US, en-GB, en-AU…). A server that set no language or a different one won't be listed, even if English speakers play on it. Your own country is preselected from your browser's time zone — nothing is sent anywhere — and you can switch it with one click.

What do WL-ON and WL-OFF mean?

Allowlist (whitelist). WL-ON means you only get in after approval — usually an application on Discord and an interview. WL-OFF is open to anyone.

Do you store player names?

No. We only store the number of players on a server, once an hour, for the chart and the ranking. We don't track who plays on a server.

Another multiplayer?

GTA V also has RAGE:MP, and San Andreas has a whole SA-MP and MTA scene. All with the same browser.
