SA-MP on mobile: what exists and why you should be careful
Huge numbers of people play “SA-MP” on their phones — and hardly anyone knows that there is no official mobile version. Here is the truth, the risks and how to play GTA San Andreas online legally.
There is no official SA-MP for mobile
SA-MP and its successor open.mp are multiplayer clients for the PC version of GTA San Andreas. The mobile apps that call themselves “SA-MP” were not released by the SA-MP team or open.mp.
According to open.mp, today's mobile version was created from source code stolen from the SA-MP team. Open.mp therefore does not support it and has said that it would like to develop its own mobile version — legally. As of September 2026, none has been released.
What to watch out for
Why you will not find APK links here
- Launchers are installed outside Google Play as APK files. Copies from third-party websites are often modified and may contain malicious code.
- Many packages include all of the GTA San Andreas game data. That is a pirated copy of the game — even if you have bought San Andreas on mobile.
- Apps that ask for access to your contacts, SMS or messages do not need it for the game.
- Never reuse your server password for your Google or Rockstar account, or anything else. If the server database is leaked, you will lose more than your character.

Frequently asked questions
Is mobile SA-MP official?
No. The official SA-MP and open.mp are only available for PC. According to open.mp, the mobile version was created from stolen code, and open.mp does not support it.
Can I download mobile SA-MP from Google Play?
Launchers with this name appear in the store, but none is from the SA-MP team or open.mp. An app being in the store does not mean it is official.
Why can I see servers for mobile in your browser?
Some servers for mobile players register with the public open.mp list, just like PC servers. The browser shows everything on the list — it does not mean that we recommend the mobile client.
Could I be penalised for playing?
The main risks are to your device and accounts: fake APKs and pirated game data. That is why we recommend playing on PC or waiting for a legal mobile version.
