How the duo works in the game
This didn't come from the Rockstar Newswire but from interviews around the extended look. Each point shows who said it and where.
InterviewRockstar itself describes it as a Bonnie and Clyde story
This isn't a comparison journalists came up with — the studio used the framing itself. Dazed adds that the consequences of the player's choices are meant to run deeper than the honor system in Red Dead Redemption 2.

InterviewRomance is optional and gives no reward
Nelson summed it up as not wanting to force it on players. The relationship carries no gameplay bonus — Jason and Lucia have each other's backs either way. Skip the romantic side and you lose nothing.

Kotaku — Jason and Lucia's relationship
InterviewYou can't break up
However you treat each other, they stay partners in crime. So the relationship isn't a state you can fail — it's a thread that develops.

GamesRadar — the duo can't be split up
InterviewBut it does affect the ending
According to Nelson, whether you nurtured the relationship shows in how their story turns out. It's built outside the missions — pool, mini-golf, kayaking, the gym, shopping, trips around Leonida, and two-person heists. The main missions alone aren't enough.

Red Bull — what the extended look revealed
InterviewYou can't always switch between them
Some missions lock you to one character, some switch automatically, and in others it's your choice. Nelson explained this with an early mission where he felt it would be unnatural for Lucia to be in charge — Jason has a military background, so he leads.

InterviewNote: outlets contradict each other on this one
Some headlines claim you can switch between Jason and Lucia at any time; others say you can't. It comes from two separate interviews — Dazed and Famitsu. The most likely reading is that switching is free in the open world and in parts of the missions, and locked elsewhere. Until Rockstar clarifies, we give both versions.

InterviewThe crime profile is a separate thing from the relationship
The game keeps its own record of how the duo operates — clean or rough — and reflects that in how people around them react. According to Nelson, this has nothing to do with the romantic storyline; they're two separate systems.

InterviewRockstar considered and dropped a four-character cast
According to Nelson, the studio worried that splitting the player's time across too many characters would weaken the bond with them. A duo makes that bond easier to build. So a third playable character hasn't been announced, and this is the clearest signal yet that one isn't coming.

Voice cast
Rockstar hasn't confirmed a single one as of today.
No Newswire announcement, no name on the game's website. That's standard for the studio — it has never published a full cast before release for any of its games. Realistically, expect either an announcement sometime this autumn or credits on release day, 19 November 2026.
Names circulating elsewhere almost always trace back to one source: an IMDb listing. Anyone can edit IMDb, just like Wikipedia, and it requires no sourcing. Add voice-recognition guessing from the trailers on top of that. Neither counts as confirmation — and the community has already cycled through at least four different names for Lucia since the first trailer alone.
Actors are also contractually barred from announcing their Rockstar roles themselves. That's exactly what fuels fake "confirmations" sourced from IMDb and acting portfolios.
Troy Baker has publicly denied rumors of his own involvement.
